Dr. Tonya Walker, MD, MPH, is a physician executive and strategic advisor currently serving as Principal Consultant for Allegiant Patient Solutions, LLC, where she provides fractional Chief Medical Officer services to healthcare startups and multinational organizations.
Previously, Dr. Walker served as Chief Medical Officer at Netflix, joining in November 2020 during the pre-vaccination phase of the COVID-19 pandemic. In this role, she built and led the company’s global health, safety, and pandemic response efforts, establishing enterprise-wide policies, procedures, and operational workflows. She also oversaw the expansion of employee health programs, including global leave and accommodations, and was instrumental in launching a Wellbeing & Resilience team. Under her leadership, internal medical consultation services became a trusted and widely utilized resource across the organization.
Prior to Netflix, Dr. Walker served as Head of Medical and Occupational Health for Unilever North America and as an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at Columbia University Medical Center. She also held the role of Medical Lead for Occupational Health at Virtua Health System and Medical Group and provided acute and occupational injury care for employees of United Airlines.
Dr. Walker’s professional interests include the health impacts of climate change on populations and clinical care, advancing health equity in underserved communities and developing countries, and reimagining healthcare delivery systems. She is board-certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine and the American Board of Preventive Medicine.
Dr. Walker earned her Bachelor of Arts and Doctor of Medicine degrees from Johns Hopkins University and her Master of Public Health from the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health.
