Position Summary/Overview:
The Center for Community Partnerships and Policy Solutions (CPPS) is seeking a highly motivated, strategic Research Scientist with strong quantitative skills who can generate and implement ideas that support high-profile research initiatives. This individual will work internally with other NYAM colleagues and externally across communities, government offices, and the private sector to develop research designs and carry out research projects that build the evidence to inform policy solutions. The Research Scientist will support and direct projects that are grounded in participatory action and implementation research processes. The position is grant supported and allows for the research scientist to develop and grow a portfolio of work.  While NYAM is currently operating under a hybrid (primarily remote) work model the successful candidate will need to be available for local meetings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

•    Design and implement projects that advance health equity in communities with the goal of informing policies at the program, local, state, and national levels. 
•    Develop and implement work plans toward the timely completion of deliverables related to research projects. 
•    Communicate complex research concepts with clarity and confidence to partners and clients.
•    Prepare white papers, peer reviewed publications, conference presentations, literature reviews, and other materials for diverse audiences, including the research community, public policy decision-makers, media, advocates, and government.
•    Monitor and actively manage expenditures across funded projects. 
•     Develop and manage relationships with elected and appointed officials and staff, faith- and community-based organizations, business-serving organizations, advocates, cultural institutions, and others. 
•     Supervise and mentor junior staff. 
•    Other Duties as Assigned: Including but not limited to representing NYAM at community meetings, conferences, and other events.

Requirements:

•    Demonstrated quantitative skills (experience analyzing electronic health records data, strongly preferred).
•    Experience with leading and conducting participatory research with community partners.
•    Experience connecting research findings to policy.
•    Proven track record of successful grant writing and management of a grant portfolio.

Qualifications:
Excellent quantitative/evaluation research, communication, and writing abilities.  Able to work independently and collaboratively and to manage multiple responsibilities. Demonstrated commitment to engaging in research that advances health equity. Experience with clinical data (e.g. EHR or EMR) a plus. 

Education and Experience:
PhD/DrPH in public health, health services research, or a related field and at least 3 years of relevant work experience or a Master’s degree and at least five years of relevant work experience.

Salary & Compensation: 
$100,000 - $115,000. NYAM provides a comprehensive benefits package including generous PTO, employer subsidized health insurance, and retirement contribution matching for eligible employees.
