Position Summary/Overview:
The New York Academy of Medicine is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Part Time HR Coordinator to join our dynamic Human Resources team. The HR Coordinator will provide comprehensive HR support across various functions, including recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, and HRIS management. This part-time role requires a proactive individual with excellent organizational and communication skills.
Work Schedule:
Up to 20 hours per week. NYAM regular work hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Recruitment and Onboarding:
- Assist in the recruitment process, including posting job openings, screening resumes, coordinating interviews, and conducting reference checks.
- Facilitate the onboarding process for new hires, including preparing new hire paperwork, conducting orientation sessions, and ensuring a smooth transition into the organization.
2. Benefits Administration:
- Support the administration of employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and leave policies.
- Assist employees with benefits-related questions and issues and ensure accurate and timely processing of benefits paperwork.
3. HRIS Management:
- Maintain and update employee records in the HRIS system, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Generate HR reports and analytics to support decision-making and HR initiatives.
4. Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
5. General HR and Payroll Support:
- Assist in organizing HR events and initiatives, such as employee training programs, wellness activities, and recognition programs.
- Engage with Payroll to ensure all HR updates are communicated and implemented.
- Perform other HR-related duties as assigned by the Director of Human Resources.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar HR role.
- Strong understanding of HR principles and practices.
- Proficiency in HRIS and MS Office applications.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Working Conditions:
- Part-time position (20-25 hours per week).
- Hybrid work environment with a mix of remote and on-site work.
