Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020, NYAM has worked closely with government, healthcare and community partners to address the pandemic’s inequitable toll on New York’s communities. In 2022, we continue to focus on increasing vaccine access and education in under-resourced communities through our COVID-19 Vaccine Equity Action Collaborative.

ABOUT THE COLLABORATIVE

With funding from the New York Community Trust, NYAM launched the COVID-19 Vaccine Equity Action Collaborative in April 2021 to connect health systems, public health, and community and faith-based leaders to ensure community voices are reflected in COVID-19 vaccine outreach and education in the New York City region.

Through convening and technical assistance, we are working with our partners to address real-time needs related to COVID-19 vaccines in communities and crowdsource solutions. We are also identifying policy solutions based in evidence and designed with the wisdom of communities who experience the greatest burden of health inequities.

We convene a steering committee of community- and faith-based organization and coalition leaders, health system representatives, government officials, and community residents. Learn more about our steering committee members.

We engage community- and faith-based groups in virtual technical assistance through webinars, email digests, 1:1 assistance, and written/printable materials. Our technical assistance resources can be viewed below.

With community input from our steering committee, we’re developing a vaccine equity policy agenda based on lessons learned from vaccination and broader pandemic efforts to build more equitable systems and policies for the future.
