Urban cultures in America and around the world are growing, and with this growth comes a unique set of health issues. Traditional public health and medical practices and methods must be adapted to respond to the urban population. The Journal of Urban Health, a peer-reviewed, one-of-a-kind publication, reflects the Academy’s focus on the emerging field of urban health and epidemiology.
The journal addresses important changes in patterns of disease and disability in urban populations from both clinical and policy perspectives, filling a neglected niche in medical and health literature.
Now published by Springer, the journal publishes six issues per year, thus ensuring timely reportage of important clinical developments and policy issues. In addition to original articles, the Journal publishes urban health data, book reviews, selected reports and proceedings from Academy symposia, and classic papers that are important to the knowledge base of the field.
