The webinar will provide an introduction to advocacy work in healthcare put on by the Advocacy In Medicine NYAM Workgroup. We will define advocacy and discuss ways students in health professional settings can be active. The webinar will provide interactive activities and some resources to increase knowledge on advocacy for patient and community wellbeing.

I am a researcher at Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) as I prepare to sit for my MCAT and apply in the coming cycle. I have been involved in DEI initiatives for about a decade now and have been honored to work with regional, national and international organizations that promote equity in healthcare and beyond.



Hana Flaxman, BA, Neuroscience
M3, Weill Cornell Medical College

Hana is a medical student interested in Pediatrics, community service, and public health. Her fields of research include cardiovascular risk factor management and mental health among underserved communities.
