Join the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene for the launch of "Ending Maternal Mortality in New York City: The Blueprint." This event highlights a new report with a summary of data and prioritized recommendations to prevent future maternal deaths. The recommendations – a “blueprint” for change — were created by the NYC Maternal Mortality Review Committee (MMRC) — a diverse, multidisciplinary committee that reviewed the 241 pregnancy-associated deaths in New York City between 2016 to 2020.
We are convening stakeholders from across sectors — from hospitals to community groups — to work together to implement the report recommendations. The launch will include a presentation of the report, speakers and breakout sessions to discuss a path forward to end maternal mortality.
A disproportionate number of deaths are among Black, non-Hispanic women. This convening honors them and their families and is an urgent call to action.
This launch will be the first of many citywide convenings that will help all stakeholders develop actionable strategies to apply the recommendations that constitute the blueprint.
This event is co-sponsored by the NYC Health Department and the New York Academy of Medicine.
