Please join the New York Academy of Medicine on Monday, December 9, for the 177th Anniversary Discourse & Annual Meeting and Awards Presentation, where we will hear from a distinguished speaker, and induct our newest class of Fellows and Members, officially welcoming them to the NYAM Community.

This year, we’re thrilled to welcome Jesse M. Ehrenfeld, MD, MPH, as our discourse speaker.  An anesthesiologist by training, Dr. Ehrenfeld is the current President of the American Medical Association, a renowned researcher in surgical safety and patient outcomes, and a noted advocate for LGBTQ+ health equity.  Dr. Ehrenfeld will speak on the topic of “TechQuity”, the strategic development and deployment of technology in health care to achieve health equity.

Throughout the evening, we will hear from the 2024 recipients of the Academy’s Annual Awards:

  • The Academy Medal for Distinguished Contributions in Biomedical Science - Gary H Gibbons, MD, Director of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute
  • The John Stearns Medal for Distinguished Contributions in Clinical Practice - Robert L. Johnson, MD, Dean Rutgers New Jersey Medical School
