Join us for an exciting evening showcasing the latest ophthalmology and vision research from residents across the NYC metropolitan area. This annual event features both poster and oral paper presentations by emerging clinician-scientists in the field of ophthalmology.

The entirety of the event will feature a pre-meeting tour of the New York Academy of Medicine (NYAM) historic library and poster presentations, including cash prizes for the best paper and poster presentations. We will also honor Dr. Donald D’Amico; Chair, Department of Ophthalmology at Weill Cornell Medical Center.

Dr. Valentin Fuster is one of the most distinguished cardiologists of his generation and is the only cardiologist in history to have received the highest research awards from the four major cardiovascular organizations: the American Heart Association, the American College of Cardiology, the European Society of Cardiology, and the Interamerican Society of Cardiology.

The Glorney-Raisbeck Award is one of NYAM’s most prestigious endowed honors, presented annually to a clinician or basic scientist in recognition of outstanding contributions to the understanding and treatment of cardiovascular diseases.

The first Glorney-Raisbeck Award was presented posthumously in 1988 to Milton J. Raisbeck, MD, an exceptional cardiologist who dedicated his career to the advancement of medical education and research. Since then, the award has honored a distinguished series of leaders in cardiovascular medicine.

We are hosting an evening of combined research presentations: pediatric residents and nursing doctoral students alike. This format is the first of its kind for this New York Academy of Medicine (NYAM) event, which is presented by our Section of Pediatrics Fellows and Members. Pediatric professionals, including directors, residency and nursing program faculty, medical and nursing students, and others interested in pediatric breakthroughs and clinical advancements are encouraged to attend.

We are thrilled to share with you an evening that celebrates the research and scholarly achievements of rising stars among pediatric clinicians. Poster presentations and oral abstracts could cover subjects like stroke evaluation protocols, health equity studies, and pediatric obesity research. Join us for an evening of collaboration and curiosity over refreshments.

New York Academy of Medicine is proud to host students, faculty members, deans, directors, New York Academy of Medicine Fellows, and the broader public to meet rising stars in social work. Our 17th Annual Social Work Student Night, sponsored by our Social Work Section, will host students from various universities in the greater New York City area. These students will deliver poster presentations and engaging oral presentations during the heart of National Social Work Month, and we’d be delighted to have you join us for a night of growth and networking among tomorrow’s leaders in a pivotal health profession.

The New York Academy of Medicine Social Work Section invites Social Workers to a two-part workshop examining ethical practice, professional boundaries, and the impact of AI on Social work. This timely series will explore emerging ethical dilemmas, evolving standards of care, and practical guidance for navigating technology in contemporary practice.

Over the past year there has been controversy and proposed reversals in the interpretation of many aspects of the science around Autism. This talk will examine the etymology of Autism (what it is, and is not), review the reasons for the increase in the reported prevalence of Autism, and discuss what is known- and not known- about the etiologies of Autism. Following the lecture there will be an opportunity for the audience to ask an expert panel made up of the speaker, a local Developmental Expert, a psychiatrist who specializes in Autism, and a Primary Care Provider experienced in issues related to vaccination hesitancy. Panelists to be announced soon. Refreshments will be provided.

The New York Academy of Medicine, in collaboration with the Food Allergy Nursing Association (FANA) and Food Allergy Research & Education (FARE), is pleased to host an in‑person screening of A World Unaware: When Every Bite Matters, a documentary currently premiering in film festivals. This program highlights the lived experiences of individuals and families managing food allergies and aims to deepen healthcare professionals’ understanding of the physical, psychosocial, and policy challenges faced by this growing patient population. Through film, dialogue, and expert perspectives, attendees will gain insight into how clinicians across disciplines can better support patients navigating life with food allergies.

Learning outcomes (if we apply for CEUs):

1. Describe the physical, psychosocial, and policy-related challenges faced by individuals living with food allergies, as illustrated through patient and caregiver narratives.
2. Identify strategies that nurses, physicians, and allied health professionals can use to improve clinical support, communication, and care coordination for patients with food allergies.
