Published circa 1900, this home medical aid is an example of the popular early medical works devoted to the promotion of health, hygiene, and happiness in the home. Beginning with diseases of the newborn, chapters discuss disorders affecting the organs of digestion, respiration and the nervous system, infections of the eyes and ears, skin diseases, tumors, and female diseases. Also covered here are first aid, artificial respiration, suffocation, drowning, hanging, and poisoning. The book is illustrated with 33 half-tone full-page illustrations and a folding leaf at the end with six colored anatomical models, illustrating the pharynx and larynx, heart, ear, lungs, eye, and nose. Two anatomical flap models illustrate the male and female bodies.
