NEW YORK, NY (May 18, 2026) — New York Academy of Medicine (NYAM) has selected two highly respected health leaders to its Board of Trustees. Cynthia McCollum, MBA, and Kia Swan-Moore, MD, MPH, who will help accelerate NYAM’s mission of empowering healthier, longer lives for all.

Wayne J. Riley, MD, MPH, MBA, MACPNYAM Board Chair and president of SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University, expressed excitement for the two new board members.

“Population health efforts improve medical outcomes for so many people, both here in New York City and throughout the country,” Dr. Riley explained. “Both Cynthia McCollum and Dr. Swan-Moore weave practical work experience with years of meaningful leadership in the health sector. New York Academy of Medicine is extremely fortunate to have them join our board.”

Ann Kurth, PhD, CNM, MPH, president and CEO of New York Academy of Medicine, echoed Dr. Riley’s enthusiasm for the new board members.

“On behalf of the Board of Trustees and everyone at New York Academy of Medicine, we are elated to welcome Cynthia McCollum and Dr. Swan-Moore as our newest trustees,” Dr. Kurth said. “Cynthia McCollum served in leadership roles at Memorial Sloan Kettering for over 40 years and offers invaluable wisdom to our board. Dr. Swan-Moore brings not only years of experience as a physician, but also innovative senior medical leadership roles at leading corporations including Bayer and now, Goldman Sachs. These are two individuals who are acutely aware of the health challenges that NYAM is deeply invested in helping solve.”

Cynthia McCollum and Dr. Swan-Moore told NYAM that they are thrilled to be a part of the organization, but they are most excited to work on behalf of the NYAM community through its research, convenings, and policy leadership.

“I am delighted to have joined the board of this historic and vibrant organization, and I look forward to working with the very talented staff and other board members to advance the important mission of NYAM,” Cynthia McCollum said. Dr. Swan-Moore added, “There is nothing more important than a foundation of health—for every stage of life.  It is an honor and a privilege to serve with others so committed to supporting population health in NY and throughout the country. I am looking forward to working with and serving this amazing team.”

Cynthia McCollum has served on many boards, most in healthcare but also in education, the environment and the arts. These include the Healthcare Association of New York State, National Comprehensive Cancer Network, Afya Foundation, Ralph Lauren Center for Cancer Care and Prevention, and the New York Society for Health Planning. She recently retired from her position as Senior Vice President, Hospital Administration at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC), where she was responsible for oversight of multiple large hospital departments and served on myriad committees. Cindy has a deep interest in mentorship and talent development. She was responsible for leading MSKCC’s response to the Covid pandemic and was honored as a “Woman of Distinction” by the New York State Assembly in 2021.

Dr. Kia Swan-Moore, as the global medical director at Goldman Sachs, supports the global health-related benefits and wellness activities in Human Capital Management. Kia has responsibility for the health, critical health solutions and health-related resilience services. She joined Goldman Sachs in 2024 as a managing director. Prior to joining the firm, Kia was the associate chief medical officer for Corning, Inc. Before that, she worked as a regional medical director in Bayer AG and Monsanto Company and has extensive clinical experience in occupational health. She is board certified by the American Board of Preventive Medicine in Occupational Medicine.
