The 172nd Anniversary Discourse & Awards and Annual Meeting of the Voting Fellows

On November 7, 2019, The New York Academy of Medicine held our 172nd Anniversary Discourse & Awards and Annual Meeting of the Voting Fellows. At the Annual Meeting, we inducted 96 new Fellows and Members to our community of health professionals committed to advancing health equity (see the full list here).

The Discourse & Awards ceremony featured an enlightening and inspiring talk by Dr. Otis Brawley of the Johns Hopkins University on cancer disparities and what we must do to achieve equity in cancer prevention, screening, treatment and outcomes. We then honored our distinguished 2019 honorees--Dr. Nancy S. Wexler, Dr. Diana J. Mason, Dr. Mary T. Bassett, Dr. Philip A. Pizzo and Dr. George E. Thibault--for outstanding contributions to their fields, and recognized our 30-Year Fellows.
