Maya  Scherer,  MPH

Maya Scherer is Director of the Center for Evaluation and Applied Research (CEAR). She has expertise in mixed method research and evaluation, public deliberation, and evaluation technical assistance and training. Her work focuses on a range of topics including chronic disease prevention, community health needs, COVID-19, health care language access for immigrant New Yorkers, and transparency in health care cost and quality. Prior to joining The Academy, Ms. Scherer worked as the Director of Programs at Columbia University’s IFAP Global Health Program. Fluent in Spanish, she has also worked in the areas of domestic violence and sexual and reproductive health at a Latinx New York City community-based organization, Violence Intervention Program (VIP), and an international women’s rights organization in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Fundación para Estudio e Investigación de la Mujer (FEIM). Ms. Scherer holds a BA from Wesleyan University and an MPH from the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University.
