Division of Public Health/ Center for the Advancement of Collaborative Strategies in Health
Established in 1995, the Division of Public Health strengthens and redirects the Academy’s historic commitment to public health. The Division’s initial work on
medicine and public health collaboration showed how people and organizations in different sectors could improve their ability to understand and address health problems by combining their complementary knowledge and skills. Thereafter, the Division created the
Center for the Advancement of Collaborative Strategies in Health to help partnerships, funders, and policy makers realize the full potential of collaboration to solve complex problems related to health and other areas. Working closely with people and organizations involved in collaboration, the Center conducts research studies, policy analyses, and joint learning activities to identify and explore key challenges associated with collaborative problem solving. The Center also develops practical tools and training programs based on the knowledge it obtains.
