The Medical Student Forum will feature presentations from a number of this year's student grant awardees for the Glorney-Raisbeck Student Grant, Valentine Student Grant, and Rogers Fellowship. Student grantees will present their research findings to an audience of NYAM Fellows, faculty mentors, research colleagues and fellow student grant awardees.

Prostate Cancer detection and screening have been main sources of controversy for the past 2 decades. Voices pro and con were arguing whether PSA screening would or could reduce prostate cancer mortality. Recently 2 large randomized studies, the ERSPC and the PLCO, one in Europe and one in the U.S. addressed the matter in a scientific manner and answered some of the issues raised. In addition, the validity of PSA as a detection marker has been questioned, as much as its power as a screening tool. Thus, the major topics today remain whether PSA is to be used as it was before, and whether screening has an impact on prostate cancer overall. Finally, can we do something to influence the natural history? From environmental to new drug compounds, what can we do to prevent prostate cancer in 2010 and the years to come.
