Center for Urban Epidemiologic Studies
The New York Academy of Medicine (NYAM) has been advancing the health of people in cities since 1847. An independent organization, NYAM addresses the health challenges facing the world’s urban populations through interdisciplinary approaches to policy leadership, education, community engagement and innovative research. Drawing on the expertise of diverse partners worldwide and more than 2,000 elected Fellows from across the professions, our current priorities are to create environments in cities that support healthy aging; to strengthen systems that prevent disease and promote the public’s health; and to implement interventions that eliminate health disparities.
This position will report immediately to the storefront project director. This opportunity has the potential for participating in the publication of manuscripts and/or abstract submissions to national and international scientific meetings and conferences. Compensation is $34,000/ year based on experience.
Key duties and responsibilities:

• Overseeing all study questionnaires and logs for accuracy
• Recording study questionnaires onto tracking logs
• Entering and maintaining study information on an ACCESS and Excel databases
• Recording and maintaining participant results onto study logs
• Conducting phone and in-person interviews with study participants
• Filing of participant surveys and consent forms
• Creating recruitment and retention spreadsheets
• Assisting with development of study protocols, grants, manuscripts and reports
• Assisting with day to day operations of both study sites and main office, as needed
• Performing literature reviews
• Other related duties as per Project Director’s request
Position Requirements:

• Have at least 3-5 years experience in community health and/or public health research
• Bachelors degree is preferred but not required
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and projects and work independently with given guidelines
• Ability to perform data entry (we will provide training for our databases)
• Outstanding interpersonal skills
• Good written and oral communication skills
• Bilingual in Spanish is a plus, but not required
• An openness to evolving responsibilities
• Interest in working with marginalized populations
Computer Skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
